OKTOBERFEST this Saturday!!!

Join us for the 17th Annual Oktoberfest in West Acton on Saturday, October 2 from 10-4! The entire center of West Acton is blocked off and becomes a car-free pedestrian mall. There is outdoor stage entertainment, vendors, go-cart rides, face painting, food court, laser tag, moon bounce, open house at the Fire Station, cotton candy, popcorn, raffles and much more!!!! Darlene and Angela (my sewing intern/assistants) and I will have a table set up there right on Massachusetts Avenue, with all kinds of sewing-related information, discounts, games, a raffle with prizes and other sewing paraphernalia! Come and see us this Saturday. It should be a blast!

Create! Fabric Store List (Brick and Morter)

Please note: I compiled this list from several sources and I do not endorse any of these stores, although I have visited many of them. I am re-posting this list, so double check before you travel as some are no longer in business. Feel free to ask my opinion on a store, but please do your own research as well either online or by visiting. This is just a starting point for your own explorations! – Becca

Skirts!

Many of my students have made skirts. All of the ones below are from the same pattern and all of them look totally different! Check it out… then get out your machine,  buy some fabric, a zipper and thread to match and sew yourself a new skirt! In return for a few hours of sewing time, it will give you a whole new look!

Creativity!

Creativity is my passion! It has been all my life. . . and being able to introduce people to a new creative outlet (namely sewing) or bring them back to it after years of their sewing machines gathering dust is very exciting to me! Sewing is such an interesting mixture of the practical and the creative. You choose the project, you buy the materials and then with some guidance from patterns, books, teachers…you are on your way to making something that no one else has envisioned exactly the same way. What a fantastic way to express yourself! What a confidence builder when you master some new technique. Plus it’s just plain fun. So let’s do it!

Create! Sewing Studio has a new voice!

I can’t believe it! After 2 years of teaching sewing here in little West Acton, MA we actually have our own blog! Now we can post tips and tricks…all kinds of suggestions to make your sewing experience better. Plus you get a chance to add your comments and suggestions for us! So stay tuned…there is more to come!
